Air Nostrum Extends CRJ Component Support Agreement with Fokker Services
Fokker Services Group (FSG) has announced the renewal of a long-term power-by-the-hour (PBH) component support agreement with Air Nostrum Engineering and Maintenance (ANEM), headquartered in Valencia, Spain. This extended contract encompasses Air Nostrum’s growing fleet of 30 Mitsubishi CRJ Next Generation aircraft and expands upon the existing collaboration between the two companies by offering a more comprehensive range of services.
Comprehensive Support Under the ABACUS Program
The agreement is delivered through FSG’s ABACUS Program, which provides a full-service, nose-to-tail solution tailored specifically to Air Nostrum’s operational requirements. The program integrates component maintenance, inventory support and leasing, guaranteed parts availability, and round-the-clock operational assistance. This holistic approach is designed to enhance fleet reliability while enabling predictable, flight-hour–based cost management for the airline’s daily operations.
Industry Context and Strategic Implications
The extension of this partnership comes amid increasing challenges faced by regional airlines concerning aircraft reliability and maintenance. AerCap CEO Aengus Kelly recently underscored industry-wide concerns about rising aircraft downtime, highlighting the urgent need for more resilient support frameworks as fleets expand and operational demands intensify. In this environment, Air Nostrum’s decision to deepen its collaboration with FSG represents a strategic effort to mitigate operational risks and maintain consistent service reliability.
Concurrently, competition within the aircraft maintenance and support sector is intensifying. Embraer Services reported a 7% increase in its services and support backlog, reaching $4.9 billion in the final quarter of 2025, driven in part by the growth of predictive maintenance agreements. Similarly, Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance has experienced significant growth in third-party sales, largely fueled by increased demand for engine maintenance services.
Through this renewed partnership, FSG and ANEM aim to bolster operational performance and provide greater stability in long-term planning for Air Nostrum’s CRJ fleet. The agreement is expected to support the airline’s efforts to sustain high levels of service reliability and operational efficiency amid evolving industry pressures and heightened competition in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) market.
